Artist Statement
I was born and raised on my family’s ranch located at the foot of the Rocky Mountains in northern Utah. My art and appreciation for nature were encouraged early on by loving and supportive parents. I lived a quiet youth, filled with introspection. Most of my time was spent riding bareback on my horse in solitude among the grasslands and mountains, and then translating that experience into my art. I have no memories of my hands not holding either a pencil or reins. I found my soul outdoors with nature and still see through the eyes of my childhood and the beauty I grew up in. Times are not as simple now and keeping up with the frantic pace of today’s society can be challenging, but perhaps while gazing into one of my images you can go back to simple recollections of trips to your grandparents house or how good it felt to slip off your shoes and step into the spring mud, letting it seep between your toes…
